I’m not sure why you’re being chastised for using water while the dishwasher is filling. That is a non sequitur. But for most people, the answer is probably yes, it moderately improves performance.

I had a suspicion. Water coming out of pipes is just kinda black magic for many people (not to be negative, irs just not worth learning about). Because the cold and hot water don’t combine until inside the tap, it doesn’t matter for the dishwasher. But pulling hot water out of the tap gets hot water to wherever the dishwasher ties in - in most kitchens, but not always in fancy ones.

That won't make a difference. You need to pull the hot water up before you start the dishwasher, but after that you can run the sink with pure cold water and it won't change the dishwasher temp at all. The dishwasher is connect to the hot water pipe directly
