Where I am from, they’ve been doing that for a few decades now. We get snow and windy autumns, so trees fall on the lines, snapping them, leaving tens of thousands without electricity. Also the snow packs on the branches of the trees, making them either snap or just sort of lean on the power lines, snapping them, leaving tens of thousands without electricity in -25C degree weather.
