If I were a boss of Sony I would consult lawyers if it is possible to legally force people to buy whatever Sony is willing to sell for whatever price Sony sees fit. Because, you know, even console gamers’ patheticness has its limits. They might eventually (in 20-40 years) decrease amount of purchases from Sony.
