That really depends on location and what you want to do. I want to go tour Italy one day, learning French instead of Italian would be silly.

Yes for French directly – lots of Africa, the Caribbean, and ofc solidarity with Canada 🇨🇦
BUT! – consider that, knowing Italian, you get a pretty good grip on Spanish as well. And there are ~6x more native Spanish speakers than native French speakers
