zikzak025@lemmy.world 2 days agoThe patient gamer strategy has always paid off for me, and I have to recommend it to everyone else.
One of the games I finished most recently was Cyberpunk 2077. Great game worth playing today, not so great at launch. And on the CD Projekt topic, The Witcher 3 has also been on my to-do list for ages, and guess what’s getting a remaster in a few more weeks?
There are too many games out there to play in one lifetime. When most games seem to be in their worst state at launch, why rush to buy when there’s so much else out there to try while you wait?

It’s unreal for me how impatient some people are, a friend is buying an console just so he can play it earlier. Pre-ordering every single game and then complaining they get unfinished stuff.
Like dude i just wait till it releases with a normal price tag, we’re waaay to old to care about having fomo.

After No Mans Sky I swore off pre orders. I know they fixed it but still.

That’s ridiculous. Especially with the cost of consoles nowadays, and the fact that we’re about to be locked into a no-disc ecosystem. And on top of that, that new consoles are going to be announced in a year or two anyways.
Rockstar is using the same strategy as GTA5. Push the financially irresponsible to buy a console for 1 game. Then push the even more irresponsible to upgrade to a next-gen console for a better port of 1 game. Then release the PC version last, hoping that anyone running on the treadmill for best experience will end up triple dipping.
