TrickDacy@lemmy.world 5 days agoHalf of people hate gnome and will bite your head off for mentioning it, the other half loves and uses it with little to no issue. I’m a gnome guy and don’t like KDE (yes I’ve tried it multiple times) but if they fix a few things I could see switching.

I think I’m the weird one who likes different DEs for different use-cases
Gnome is great on a laptop with a track pad. It feels a bit like MacOS with its gestures and how it behaves.
On my main desktop that I use a mouse to navigate, KDE all the way.
On the few VMs that I run GUI apps on, I like LXQT (Lubuntu or Debian) for how few resources it uses.

Nice! I’ll bet this helps your neuroplasticity too. I should probably try to do something similar. One reason I’m attached to gnome is that I’ve built up a collection of knowledge and scripts around customizing it. I should probably be less picky regarding these customizations though.
