7+ billion people on the planet. Some are dumb. Some are really dumb. Some are bored. Some are children with no life experience. The internet amplifies voices which, in real life, are ignored or disregarded as meritless. There’s no non-verbal communication online hence lots will be misinterpreted.

This will happen lots of times by no fault of yours. You can’t see “the other side” of the conversation so who knows who they are and their motives. I’ll ignore muppets in real life. Harder to spot online but your example will give you clues. And muppets can band together. Move on, they’ll continue to be muppets no matter how much effort and energy is spent debating people who act in bad faith.
