Comment on How would I go about turning this into a power-generating wind turbine.
Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 2 weeks agoIt’s already turning, that is what the steam is used for, so that will go from kinetic energy - heat energy - kinetic energy - electric energy, instead of directly going kinetic - electric; you are losing efficiency at every conversion step. If you already have something moving, using it directly with a motor is the way to go.

yep :-) but that small dinky wheel will have trouble powering anything more than a bunch of Leds - there’s not enough momentum in those blades, they would have to be longer, less of them and higher up to use more area where wind is blowing stronger and constantly to provide a solid amount of power.
