Do you have any references for this? As far as I know the literature, the debate about “what matters more” is still ongoing with some research arguing in favor of personality and other research in favor of cognitive ability. This research seems to agree that the relationship between cognitive ability and life outcomes is generally positive, and I am not aware of any convincing evidence to the contrary.
