- Ever used micosoft word or excel?
- Some freebies that look good without requiring much (invent a little story to go along with them in case they ask about them in the interview): “Learning new skills”, “Problem solving”, “Documentation”, "Troubleshooting"
- Did you ever go to highschool (or your country’s equivalent)? You can put that down as well.

Troubleshooting is an underrated skill. We’ve had so many technicians struggle because they lacked troubleshooting skills, many leave after a few months to a year, and some do eventually pick it up, but man is it nice to have a new hire that already knows how to look up manuals and troubleshoot

Yeah so many of those “freebies” I mentioned sound like bare basic stuff, but then you actually get out there and realize that a lot of coworkers are completely incompetent besides a few very specific areas of expertise. People who can self-teach are very nice to work with.

Yeah, usually also means they have lots of skills up their belt, which they didn’t consider listing, whereas folks that do not self-teach will only know what they’ve been formally taught.
And formal education really does not cover a lot of topics.

Common sense doesn’t necessarily include “troubleshooting”. It’s a tiered skill as well. A fresh network admin with a passing familiarity of the OSI model and an IT systems architect are going to have very different depths of understanding and expertise.
If there’s a unifying thread it’s likely systems thinking (within which there are different methods and disciplines). Some are naturally better at it than others but it is a set of skills and models anyone can learn and use. The best of us are able to maintain composure under pressure, think clearly, and act wisely, because they’ve built the necessary psychological tooling to do so (and trained skills which deploy that tooling).
All of that said: absolutely, yes. A resume is a list of things you want to talk about in an interview. If your resume is sparse but you’re able to list any skill pertainent to the role you’re applying for then it’s reasonable to include that skill.
