most countries have given up on climate change, with all the propaganda that the oil/gas pushed helped too. deforestation is a big problem in tropical areas, where the biodiversity is very high, and not because of the “charismatic megafauna” , theres a group of types plants that are extremely susceptible as they usually only found in one or few locations(mycohetereotrophs) and are easily extirpated or extinct, if you even disturb that small area of the forest.(see americas own Thismia species, people have been trying to find this rare plant for 100+years). there is a related on in japan, that was though to have been extinct for 30 years only to be rediscovered.
