I just want to say something very grounded and realistic: the holders of power in American society shall not allow the U.S., nor any other country friendly with it, to do this for quite a significant amount of time. Arguably, the seizing is already happening, with Chinese competitors like Alibaba stealing ample sums of data from Anthropic/OpenAI to train their Qwen model. All of these companies steal from one another and many are forming internal alliances. It is now involving militaries and deep states. There is no chance for normal citizens, even with a supermajority, to change or affect this, because of the Republicanism (representative) nature of American society.
