Zephyr@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks agoI would say Krita and blender are industry competitive but gimp has lagged behind. It’s usable but clearly not on a professional level yet. That said, if enough people started donating a fraction of what they pay to use Photoshop that this would change very rapidly.

I’ve attempted to use Gimp multiple times over the years and it never clicked. Tried Krita for the first time a couple months ago and it’s pretty nice

Yeah gimp has always been on like this cusp of being really good. I’m not sure if it needs to be forked or a full rewrite or just more funding. I know the biggest complaint has been the transition although that’s a tough egg to crack. It shouldn’t be a Photoshop clone but also not so dissimilar from industry norms.
