It’s unnecessary to assume they’re a tankie. My guess is someone who has experienced that life first hand? If you’ve seen movies like Parasite you get an idea of mindset and culture OP is talking about. Of course it’s not all as extreme as OP says, but there are reasons why the term Hell Joseon is part of the culture there, en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell_Joseon
