Haha, something similar happened to me - thankfully just with a common potted plant: despite being extremly easy to take care of, it was doing worse and worse. All of it, except for one branch (or so I thought) that was also a deeper green.

Turns out something else started growing in there and killed off the original plant.

That other plant is still growing there now. I think it might be a lemon or orange plant.
