Non-human animals are more important than humans exactly in the same way your sibling is more important than a rando in another country.

The fact you’d pick your sibling before a stranger in a trolley problem doesn’t mean you get to exploit, abuse, mistreat them or shoot them for a burger. Same goes for non-human animals.
