I would listen to what your parents have to say, not because your mates are necessarily good or bad, but I learned that the hard way, the vast life experience matters, my dad specifically had an almost scary insight when it came to my mates, he could spot any serious character flaw, I resisted and got mad, then the years went by and I kid you not, everything he called out was 100% correct, that being said, it’s just their way of giving you a heads up so you can act accordingly.
