Did u play it on a console with a controller ? I played it back around release like that and didn’t enjoy the combat. The story did keep me playing and when it came out on PC i found playing using mouse and keyboard controls completely changed the experience for me to being actually decent. just me maybe tho

The Last Of Us. I tried it and found it to be really boring gameplay wise. Everybody told me I had to power through the first bit and then it would get interesting. I did that and waited and waited and then the game was over. My firat thoight was “Well, this would have been a great movie.” When the series came out I loved it. The story is awesome, but the gameplay is just incredibly dull to me.

I really enjoy both games, but I agree the gameplay in 1 is god awful. 2 is very similar but they expand on some of the mechanics to make it more engaging. The story of those games do all the heavy lifting, without that no one would have looked twice at them.

Power through? I don’t understand that. It starts great and just continues great. If you didn’t like it early, you wouldn’t like it later.

I 100% agree. TLOU is a very basic game, however it’s magnificently well put together.
The core gameplay mechanics are very simple, but the AI of the enemies is great. The story is very derivative and unoriginal (right up until the last 5 minutes) but it’s extremely well told.
All that said, The Last of Us Part 2 more than makes up for it. EVERYTHING is improved. The story is engaging, , well-told, and gripping. The gameplay is weightier and grounded and intense. There were so many times I forgot I was playing a game with zombies in it.
If you can bare TLOU, it’s worth it for the context you get for playing the sequel.

Totally agree. The gameplay on TLOU 2 is some of my favourite gameplay.
TLOU 1 was amazing the first time when everything was a surprise. I enjoyed playing through it again on the remastered/ps5 version. But I’m also a huge zombie story fan in general.
But getting to TLOU2… I didn’t have high expectations because online was so toxic about it, but I really enjoyed it. Much more than the first one.
