From lighting to post processing and shaders and to every asset I believe you can make it look like a modern game including a lsysics engine. On what is not fixed yet: not a lot of animation mods out there while those that are out are pretty amazing. Though like you said even base game can look better than skyrim cause skyrim looks uninspired and populated by patato shaped peolple. Art direction goes a long way
