“They’re living in our homes while Australians can’t even find a rental,” she says. “As Aussie taxpayers, we’re the ones being discriminated against.”

The irony is baked into the geography. Fantig’s grievance is boiling over in one of the most “traditionally Australian” pockets of the country; more than 80 per cent of Farrer’s residents were born here, far higher than NSW’s 64 per cent average.
