rosco385@lemmy.wtf 2 weeks agoAs an Australian I may be biased, but I think before colonization Australia (or at least big parts of it) were a paradise. A lot has been damaged, but it’s still a special place.

Eh, to summarise, early Aboriginal hunting caused a shift in the ecosystem that led to eucalyptus becoming dominant, and in turn caused the great desertification of the continent.
They couldn’t have possibly known of course, not slinging blame here. Its just a sad example where even pre-colonisation and industrialization, humans have been wreaking havoc on nature.
I think it’d have to go a long way back to call it proper paradise.
