Berengaria_of_Navarre@lemmy.world 20 hours agoIsrael is a colonist entity just like the USA, Canada, Australia, new Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, etc etc. When the original Israelites arrived there thousands of years ago they colonised it and drove out whoever was there first, they were then driven out by the Arabs who were driven out by the Ottomans who were driven out by the British, who ceded it to the Arabs and Jews who will likely both get invaded by the Turks to “restore peace”. It’s a cursed piece of land. But, you can’t remove it, because the Israelis have hidden a bunch of nukes all around the world as an insurance policy.

Ah so the people there are still ethnically brazillian/argentinian right? i.e. the people are indigenous themselves, just not the rulers? or are the majority of people of european descent too?

Majority of people are either pardo (mixed white/black/indigenous) or white indigenous population is less than 1%). First mixed race president was in 1909.
Argentina
80ish% European descent 16% indigenous
Also it’s worth pointing out that both countries speak European languages and are majority Catholic.
