When you’re buying by drugs from schotty research chemical production facilities in foreign countries, those are called “love letters.”

t3rmit3@beehaw.org 2 days agoI’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic, but given that this is an anti-firearms bill, they will probably do the same thing they do when you purchase a firearm magazine cross-state; they’ll open the box and check that it is ‘compliant’ with the 10-round limit. If it is, they’ll ship it on to you. If it’s not, they’ll ship you the empty box with a notice of seizure. You may also be contacted by CADOJ later, depending how much free time they have.

Apart from the extruder, what parts of a 3D printer are not of the shelf electronics? It seems like a lot of folks are going to have their random electronics seized.

They’ll likely only target fully assembled 3d printers, which is why just like their firearms laws it will only stop people who aren’t actively attempting to circumvent the law.

Honestly, the only parts that can’t be off the shelf are the nozzle, heat brake, heat sink, and some gears. So if you are halfway determined, buy whatever cheap-ass printer and swap their electronics to an Arduino mega with a stepper motor shield, like, that’s it, just plug and play your new control board in, flash whatever firmware and away you go. Hell, most of the super cheap ones are already just run on an Arduino clone of some sort.
