      I have to assume it’s in an automod filter, but I can’t imagine why. Is it a joke like how people say “Fr*nch”?

        There’s a pair of asterisk symbols in the address, and Lemmy or the readers are automatically italicizing what’s between them and then removing the symbols, which breaks the link.
