Comment on How to deploy a satellite and what are the costs?
q1p_@lemmy.zip 1 day agoI’m planning to get a license but I’m not in the US. If I get the license in US, can I use it anywhere or is it only specific to that country? I wish I had my little satellite up in space already, my small space-buddy. :)

A license obtained in the USA (issued by the FCC) only permits transmission on regulated frequencies within the USA. Other nations will have different regulatory bodies you’ll need to comply with instead. You can probably just do a web search for “<your country here> amateur radio license” and go from there.

Caveat to that, Amateur Extras can use their licenses in reciprocal countries. Details: www.arrl.org/us-amateurs-operating-overseas
