Parents did this for me (not through JB) when I was in Year 7 and the laptop still works after all that time, but needed to get a newer device in uni because of the specs and outdated operating system.

I remember the laptop having problems with the imaging card, and the hinges. The repair guy fixed it at the school and also I remember a technician coming to our house to repair it for nothing. It was worth it in that case, but if the laptop is good and unlikely to have problems, the cheaper option sounds better.
