I’ve done it now… I’ve been keeping a distance from the black cat to not get attached but I’ve caved and given him some pats.
And then realised that while his fur is healthy looking, he’s a bit thinner than I realised, and some of his vertebrae in his upper back stuck out in a way that felt weird under my fingers. Is he injured? Underweight?
But I can’t start feeding him or take him to the vet. I really don’t think I can take on another cat (especially when they hate each other), even him approaching stresses the hell out of Melbcat and her immune system isn’t great. I may not be able to catch him to take him directly to the vet, and he may belong to a shitty neighbour that might try to go after my cat in retribution.
He’s a friendly boy. I hope someone is looking after him 😭
