There’s no such thing as price gouging for unnecessary goods or services.
If you don’t think the good is worth that price, don’t buy it plain and simple. McDonald’s is not a necessity. They’re going to price their product according to what they believe the market will bear.

I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted for this because it’s objectively a correct take. They are pricing their product at what they think people will pay for it and it’s working.
I agree with the overall consensus that the chain as a whole is no longer cheap, convenient, nor fast any longer, but they are still consistently busy almost all day long at any franchise I’ve lived near in the past few years. This is anecdotal, but seems to indicate that they know what they are doing. If you don’t like the pricing then don’t buy it at that price point. If enough people agree with you and follow suit, then they will lower their prices, deal with reduced profits, or fail as a business.
