Comment on Is the Trump Administration Building Up to a Military Confrontation With Venezuela?

With the Venezuelan government directly? Probably not, this is most likely just pressure and potential support for moves in the area against other groups. Venezuela does have a significant card available to play in the event of war, where an invasion of Essequibo would cost US energy companies a fair chunk of money after they’ve poured a lot of investment into production in the area. British Guyana doesn’t produce that much oil in the grand scheme of things, but the energy market is fairly volatile, so I imagine oil prices would tick up in response to violence in the area. This would help Russia and hurt the US administration.
My armchair guess anyway.
