Sometimes I gotta ask... Why not just get a fucking trailer? This is a trailer in all but name and wheels. There are millions of people who live in trailers. Nobody writes articles like this about them.
They lost their job, home and moved into a trailer. And they shit in the woods.
I'm not sure when we started replacing "trailer" with "tiny home" or "shitting in the woods" with "composting toilet". But these semantic games are getting annoying.

People want to sound fancy. RE: trailer, wouldn't the maintenance of the shed be easier, since you don't have moving parts underneath, like a trailer ?
Also, as they mentioned, they are slowly expanding their home, which would be awkward with a trailer

They take the moving parts off. It works the same way. You can add a section by knocking a wall down or roll up another trailer. People do both.
Its a decent option in mountains because mountains don't usually behave tornadoes.
A trailer is likely to be cheaper because it has all the things you need.

Yes, a trailer would be much cheaper.
Looking at the picture, I feel it must have cost a lot, maybe 50k, to construct a tiny amount of space. Their neighbors looks like a much nicer cottage.

I think they are either bad with money or were forced by circumstance to pick such a bad option.
