This actually seems helpful. You can tell which one is the USB3 port without looking.

I dont see why you cant just remember that the edge one is the USB3, not like anyone does the mental gymnastics of remembering the orientation you grabbed the USB cable from and which direction it goes in, the flipping is a rule set in stone
