walden@sub.wetshaving.social 1 year agoWe had a Bazaar community but decided to close it because of the way Lemmy is set up… It’s too easy to copy usernames and engage in fraud. If you want to make a post, just put “This post approved by walden” at the bottom.
We don’t have a good setup for this type of thing, so I’d say for now it’s a “with permission” type of scenario. Good luck with the sale!

Thanks, that’ll do for my purposes anyhow as I only get around to this once or twice a year so we’ll probably have something set up by the next time I bother to list something.
Curious what you’re referring to re: username spoofing though, that seems concerning. Do you just mean the ability to create walden@lemmy.world or something and potentially confuse users that don’t understand the federated nature of the platform? Or something sneakier?

That’s exactly it! I happen to have walden@lemmy.world, but I can’t stop somebody from signing up for walden@trustmeits.me.
