I was on it just this Tuesday…
Of the 976 ever produced, only 22 DC-9’s remain in operation (as of last February). Not exactly a common plane to come across.
You’re reading it a bit more literally than it was intended. “Flying sardine can to the Canaries” being the gist I was going for.
