Meltdown@lemmy.world 2 days agoYou’re not wrong that this post is fake, but it’s I portant to remember that there’s nothing phobic about criticizing someone’s voluntarily-chosen ideology, especially when that ideology promotes violence, hatred, misogyny, homophobia, racism, sexism, etc. That’s not phobia, it’s just criticism.

Criticizing an ideology or a religion, Islam like the others, is always okay. But considering every Muslim as an violent, hating, misogynistic, homophobic, racist and sexist person is bigotry.

People make the voluntary choice to adopt ideologies that promote racism, sexism, etc.
If they don’t agree with the ideology’s hateful and violent tenets, they don’t have to adopt the ideology, but it’s disingenuous to suggest that people who do voluntarily choose adopt those ideologies don’t actually believe in them. Nobody chooses an ideology they disagree with.
