Or if you wanna talk about the topic at hand, petrol companies have recently projected that in the next 20 years, over 95% of their profits from oil will be made from plastic products, such as grocery store bags and single use products. Hell, grocery stores profit majorly from single use plastics.
In 2020 oil companies invested an additional $400 billion into upgrading plastic manufacturing. You can bet your ass that a large majority of that is going to lobby politicians, and manufacturers to follow the status quo, including blocking biodegradables, like corn based bags.
