Kaldo@kbin.social 8 months agoWould the same argument work for movies, can I upload the entire Oppenheimer to youtube if I sometimes add an edit explaining some scenes or adding context, for example? Is that also transformative?
Cuz I don't mind react videos on their own, but the common issue is they basically re-upload the entire original video and people who watch that don't have to give views to the original. IMO react videos shouldn't contain more than 50% of the original.

I can see the argument about percentage. I’m really not sure. I think with this particular case, grey has millions of subscribers and I don’t think VTH does. He’s not stealing views from grey honestly.
It’s tricky to define transformative for sure. At the end of the day, I think grey could have handled it better. He threw a hissy fit because he had received a strike before and decided to fuck over other, smaller creators out of spite.
