The Blazers welcomed him on Twitter (they didn’t welcome Jrue), so they might keep him for now. It seemed he was unhappy when the Celtics announced that Derrick White was going to start over him after Smart was traded, so I don’t know why he’d want to backup Scoot. Unless he’s not going to backup Scoot, then I’d have to ask what the hell the Blazers are doing. But if he turns out to be okay with it, I’d be more than happy to keep him.

Would Brogdon be that bad as a veteran presence and backup PG if they keep him? He has had some deep playoff runs with Milwaukee and Boston and played with some big names there. And he seems like a generally smart/educated/respected/professional guy.

Smart got dealt because Brogdon couldn’t pass a physical. I think there is a major injury concern there and I would be surprised if anyone trades for him right now.

Brogdon could be a good presence for a limited time if he’d start and I don’t think this is the case. They are rebuilding the team but most of the guys already have enough experience to let them try to win. If they need a veteran they can sign someone who can act in the locker room and in case of need (à la Dellavedova with the Bucks). Other than that, I think Brogdon has still some value both as 6th man and as a valid backup or injury replacement for teams who plan to do deep PO run and above, if he can stay healthy

Wouldn’t be bad at all but would also have great value to a contender or a team trying to make a playoff push. Don’t think they’ll be desperate to move him but they’re bound to get offers for him. a pick and a prospect might sufice.
